Small Town Composer

Brenda Hascall (born 1965) grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County in California.    Brenda began learning the guitar at the age of 10 and went on to play trumpet through her school years, eventually switching to alto saxophone.   She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from California State University, Northridge and a Master of Arts in Band Conducting from the American Band College of Sam Houston State University.  In 1988 she married Brian Hascall, also a trumpet player and the two moved to the central coast of California where they raised their 2 children and currently reside.  Brenda was a public school music teacher on the central coast from 1996-2024 teaching band, choir, strings, classroom music and guitar at all grade levels.    Brenda currently conducts and composes music for the Morro Bay White Caps Community Band, and the Village Band.  She is also sought after as a guest conductor for other local community bands.
